Down for the Count formed in 2005 as The Poinciana Jazz & Soul Band and have since performed at countless events all over the country.
All the band members have a vast amount of performing experience, having played with a variety of Big Bands and orchestras at prestigious venues throughout Britain and Europe, including at the North Sea Jazz Festival (The Hague, Holland) and winning Outstanding Performance Awards at the National Festival of Music for Youth.
Many of the musicians have also graduated with degrees in Music and Performance from top UK universities.
Individual members of the band have had the opportunity to perform with many world-class jazz musicians including Kenny Wheeler, Stan Sulzmann, Pete Long, Frank Mantooth, Norma Winstone, Frank Ricotti and Nathan Bray to name just a few.
In 2009, the band renamed themselves Down for the Count, but still perform the same fantastic mix of Jazz, Rat Pack and Soul classics with their unique and distinctive sound. With a long list of satisfied customers, Down for the Count are sure to provide you fantastic entertainment at great value!
