The Down for the Count Swing Orchestra are London's hottest mini big band - bringing the sounds of the Swing Era back to life, with a stunning and energetic show celebrating the best music of the 20th Century.

Described as "a breath of fresh air on the swing scene", the band perform their own arrangements of the big band classics of the 1930s and 1940s, drawing from the great swing bands of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman.

Swinging like a full-scale dance orchestra, they are never afraid to try something new and you can also expect anything from 1920s New Orleans jazz to 1950s jive hits in every show.

The Down for the Count Swing Orchestra have performed for audiences up and down the country including at Twinwood Festival, the London Jazz Festival, and the London Swing Festival. They regularly perform at top London jazz clubs such as Hideaway Streatham, Upstairs at Ronnie Scotts, and Pizza Express Soho. Check out the next live dates here!

In 2017 the band recorded new album of vintage swing music, “Let’s Dance”, which was played on Clare Teal’s BBC Radio 2 show in November 2017.

The band are a hit with dancers and have worked with many of the UK's top Lindy hop, swing, jive and ballroom dance teachers. They are also one part of The Vintage Swing Collective, a spectacular collaboration with the Lindy hop dance troupe The Hotfoot Strutters.

Down for the Count are a hit in dance halls, concert halls, theatres and festivals, and their joyful performance and infectious rhythm never fails to get toes tapping and audiences dancing. We defy you to stay in your seat when this band gets swinging!
