The Down for the Count Swing Orchestra is one of the most popular bands on the UK vintage scene.

Bringing the sounds of the Swing Era back to life, the band re-creates the classic big band sounds of the 1930s and 1940s, with a helping of 1920s Prohibition-era jazz and 1950s jive music for good measure.

Described as "a breath of fresh air on the swing scene", the band has performed for Lindy hop, jive and ballroom dancers up and down the country and is constantly in demand for vintage events and festivals. The band have also performed at top London jazz clubs including Ronnie Scotts, Hideaway and Pizza Express.

This stylish Swing Orchestra are as much fun to watch as to dance to - their energetic performance features fabulous vocals and show-stopping solos from the talented instrumentalists.

If you're planning a vintage themed wedding reception or corporate event, you can also talk to us about the many talented vintage dancers and vintage traders that we regularly collaborate with. We can arrange for your guests to have a simple swing or jive dance lesson before the band performs, or even entertain your guests with a troupe of dancers performing in front of a live band.

Vintage events and festivals

Having burst on to the swing scene with our debut performance at Twinwood Festival in 2013, we are now established as one of the UK’s most popular vintage bands. Get in touch to hire us for your vintage event!

Dance nights

We regularly perform for Lindy hop, jive and ballroom dancers (sometimes, all three at once!). Most of the musicians in the band are social dancers, and we understand just what it takes to get dancers moving. We also host an annual dance event, Rhythm Junction London.

Jazz clubs

We love performing at jazz clubs, and have taken to the stage at Hideaway Streatham (for London Jazz Festival), Upstairs at Ronnie Scotts, Pizza Express Soho and more. Experience the Swing Orchestra in action - check out our live dates page.
