Becca & Ben's Oxfordshire wedding music package

In September 2015, Down for the Count provided a live wedding music package for Becca and Ben's reception and party at Cold Harbour Barn in Oxfordshire.

Becca and Ben had seen us performing at their friends Jenny and Dan's wedding at Eynsham Hall in Oxfordshire. They got in touch shortly after their engagement (before they had even booked their venue or confirmed their date!), asking us to provide live music for their wedding reception.

Jenny and Dan's winter wedding was one that stuck in our memory - as we were arriving at the venue snow started to fall and it got heavier all evening. We ended up being stuck on a gridlocked M40, taking 8 hours to drive home from Oxford to London.

It was therefore some relief when Becca and Ben confirmed that they were planning a summer wedding at a great venue called Cold Harbour Barn, in the middle of the Oxfordshire countryside.

It was an idyllic location and when we arrived at lunchtime, we instantly made some new friends - but had to be careful not to run them over...

After a church ceremony, the guests arrived at the venue on an iconic London Routemaster bus whilst we provided background jazz music with our trio.

The guests then made their way through to the beautiful barn for dinner and speeches. 

After that it was time for the first dance - Becca and Ben had chosen one of our favourite songs, Nina Simone's swing classic "My Baby Just Cares For Me".

It was then straight into the party, and you can tell from the photos just how much fun everyone had dancing to our live swing, soul and Motown music.

As night fell, the few guests who weren't dancing were able to sit down round the bonfire and reflect on a great, fun-filled wedding day.

A few weeks after the wedding, Becca and Ben got in touch to let us know their thoughts:

Dear Mike,

Just wanted to write to say a HUGE thank you for playing our wedding. You guys were totally amazing from start to finish, we had so many people coming up to us and my parents, saying how great you were. The way you played outside during the reception, and getting people on the dance floor was just what we wanted. We had such a wonderful time, and you and the band were such a big part of that!
