Rhythm Junction London - live vintage music event in London
On Saturday 18th November Down for the Count are returning to The Tabernacle in Notting Hill for Rhythm Junction London – a night of live vintage music in London.
It’s our own event which we put on once or twice a year, and it’s the perfect excuse to get dressed up and have a ball!
The Tabernacle is a great event space, whether you want to dance or just enjoy the live music – we used it for our live Swing & Soul Band videos in January, and you can see there is loads of space to dance but also plenty of seats in the raised area which is close to the stage from which you can watch the show and dancers.
At Rhythm Junction London, we perform as our vintage Swing Orchestra – performing classic tunes from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. The Swing Orchestra performs big band classics from the likes of Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Benny Goodman; vocal classics from the likes of Nat ‘King’ Cole and Ella Fitzgerald; New Orleans style music from the likes of Louis Armstrong; and jive music from Louis Prima and Sam Cooke.
If you’re considering booking the Swing Orchestra for your event, this is a great chance for you to see us live before you book!
Also at the event we have a solo jazz dance class from the amazing Nikki Santilli. Nikki is one of London’s top professional dancers, and is an expect in the traditional dances of the early 20th Century.
On the day, the jazz class will last for 30 minutes and you don’t need to know anything in advance. It’s perfect for both beginners and experienced dancers – and because it’s a solo lesson, there is no need to bring a partner.

We also have Swing DJ House of Amelia spinning the (digital) discs between sets. She will keep you on the dancefloor with a great mix of vintage swing music.
Finally, we have to mention the amazing bar and café at the Tabernacle. The venue is part of the Notting Hill Carnival Village and you won’t be surprised to hear that they make amazing Caribbean dishes. Arrive in plenty of time before the show to eat before the jazz dance lesson and live music starts!
As you’d expect, there is also a well stocked bar serving alcoholic drinks, and hot and cold drinks.
Rhythm Junction London is kindly sponsored by Vivien of Holloway - London's top brand manufacturing reproduction vintage clothing. You'll see most of our girls proudly wearing their Vivien of Holloway dresses at our Swing Orchestra events, check out Vivien's website for your outfit!
Tickets for Rhythm Junction London are available now, priced £15 in advance. If we have any left, they will be on sale on the door for £20 – so advanced booking is highly recommended!
