Sheila & Rob's London Jewish wedding

In July 2017 we performed in the Hansom Hall at St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel for the wedding celebrations of Sheila and Rob, a wonderful couple who had seen us at a friends' wedding a few years before.

We love the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel - we had performed there a few years before for their Great Gatsby New Year's Eve party, and it was great to return there for the wedding of this wonderful couple.

The Horah

In traditional Jewish style, the wedding kicked off with The Horah, to the traditional song Hava Nagila. Here is a shortened video of our live performance of this wonderful cultural moment - watch out for the chair lifts from about one minute onwards, always terrifying to watch from the stage!

The first dance and the party

After The Horah, guests sat down for speeches and dinner. Then it was time for the first dance, which Sheila and Rob did to the classic Ben E. King number Stand by Me, followed by a party to the sounds of our Motown Collective party band. 

It was a really joyful celebration - we don't remember a moment when the dancefloor wasn't full to bursting, and we had a fantastic time providing the music for such a special occasion.

At this wedding we were working with a dream team of suppliers, including Aron and the team from WHiTEPAPER Event who organised the event superbly.

After the wedding

A few weeks later we caught up with Sheila & Rob, and here's what they had to say about our performance at their Jewish wedding:

“We thought Down for the Count did an outstanding job and so did all of our friends and family. Everyone could not stop raving about how great the music was. Honestly, we wouldn't have changed a thing and were so impressed.

They got the our guests really excited and dancing like crazy, and pleased a crowd of 7 year olds to 93 year olds.

Most of all, it was so special to hear New York, New York as a closing song and we really appreciate your initiative to create those extra special touches for us! Without a doubt, we would recommend Down for the Count to any other friends getting married.”
