Down for the Count Swing Orchestra's new live video - Sugarfoot Rag!
In April 2018 Down for the Count filmed a new set of live videos at The Tabernacle in Notting Hill with our vintage Swing Orchestra. We’re delighted to announce that the first video is now available to view!
This video is a transcription of Ella Fitzgerald’s version of Sugarfoot Rag, performed by her with Sy Oliver and his orchestra. Our version features Simon Joyner on trumpet, Alex Western-King on tenor saxophone, and Hannah Castleman on vocals.
The video is completely live - we love the challenge of filming a live video in concert, where we have just one chance to perform the song perfectly. We hope you like it!
On Sunday 27th May we’ll be performing this song and many others at our Ella & Louis Special at Hideaway Streatham. We’ll be paying tribute to two of the most important musicians of the 20th century with a Sunday lunchtime show where we will be playing some of your favourite songs from Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, including recreations of some of their fantastic duets.
Hideaway Streatham, a fantastic jazz club in South London, is a great venue to enjoy live music, with a great food menu and a bar stocking fantastic drinks. You can sit back and enjoy the live music with a drink, or if you’re feeling energetic you can have a dance on the small dancefloor.
Tickets are available today - we often sell out the venue so we encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment.
