Down for the Count play Nat King Cole at 100: with Strings
Down for the Count are delighted to announce one of their biggest and most ambitious projects to date - a concert spectacular, featuring the full Down for the Count line-up plus string players, performing the music of Nat 'King' Cole in his centenary year.
Nat 'King' Cole was born in Alabama on 17th March, 1919, and went on to become one of the most recognisable voices of the 20th Century. He was also a formidable, ground-breaking pianist, frequently mentioned amongst the great names in jazz piano history.
On Sunday 7th July, Down for the Count will be taking to the stage at The Tabernacle Theatre in Notting Hill for a fantastic concert celebrating the life of Nat 'King' Cole. The Down for the Count String Orchestra will be joined by 8 string players, playing many of Nat 'King' Cole's most loved songs. You'll be able to hear classics such as Mona Lisa, Smile, When I Fall in Love and Let's Face the Music and Dance in a luscious orchestral setting. We'll also be performing some of the fantastic King Cole Trio repertoire, including Straighten Up and Fly Right and Sweet Lorraine.
