Down for the Count Orchestra on tour

Published: 26 Apr 2023

It’s official - the Down for the Count Orchestra are back on tour!

Our Orchestra last performed together on our Christmas tour in December 2022, so it was a fantastic feeling to have everyone back in the same room again over the past week.

Our first show was on Friday 21st April in Glasgow, although the journey there began a couple of days before. We spent all day Thursday in rehearsal at Eastwood Park Theatre, where we played through some old favourites as well as some brand new pieces that will be debuting on this tour. After a hard day of work, we headed out for our traditional tour curry - many thanks to the attentive staff at Madras Cafe in Glasgow who accommodated us for an evening of great food and some band bonding.

On Friday, we kicked off the Voices of Swing tour at a sold-out show in Glasgow at Eastwood Park Theatre. We were lucky to spend the evening with an exuberant audience who created such a joyful and supportive atmosphere - which was perfect for our first night on tour. We can't wait to return to Glasgow for our "Swing Into Christmas” tour later in November at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall - tickets are already on sale! As we said on stage, there are literally thousands of tickets to be sold - so please come along and bring your friends, family and everyone you know to kick off the festive season in style!

Next, we drove over to Aberdeen where we performed at one of our favourite venues (actually the first venue we ever performed at in Scotland), The Tivoli Theatre. This venue is a firm favourite venue from our 10-piece All-Stars band tours, but this was the first time we brought along our 30-piece Orchestra to the venue, and we already cannot wait to come back. As always, we had a wonderful time with the friendly people of Aberdeen - who even managed to sell-out one of our CDs at the merchandise stand! Luckily for us, our performance at The Tivoli Theatre this week was not our last there in 2023, as we are returning to perform with our Orchestra on Wednesday 15th November on our “Swing Into Christmas” tour.

Our final Scottish destination on this tour was to one of our favourite cities - Edinburgh! We played a fantastic show and spent the evening with a joyous and enthusiastic crowd that we have found typical of our nights in Edinburgh. After the show we even had time to enjoy each other's company in the Travelodge bar! We will also be returning to The Queen’s Hall on Friday 17th November with our Orchestra to help launch you into the festive spirit this Christmas. Tickets are also on sale now!

We have many more dates ahead of us on the Voices of Swing tour, as we are now heading into England where we will be performing 15 more shows - plus one in Wales in Swansea! Some of these shows are already close to selling out, so if you’re thinking of coming along to join us, make sure you grab some tickets ahead of the show to secure your seat. This tour is set to be another memorable few weeks of performances, and we can’t wait to see you all at a show soon.
