The Music of Nelson Riddle with The Down for the Count Concert Orchestra
Our 28-piece Concert Orchestra presents a celebration of the great American composer and arranger Nelson Riddle in his centenary year.
Born in 1921, Nelson Riddle was one of the unsung heroes of the swing era. His musical arrangements helped shape the careers of an extraordinary range of artists – from Frank Sinatra to Ella Fitzgerald, Nat ‘King’ Cole, Peggy Lee, Judy Garland, Rosemary Clooney, Kelly Smith, Dean Martin, and many more.
To celebrate Nelson’s 100th year, the vocalists and instrumentalists of Down for the Count have joined forces with City String Ensemble to bring some of Nelson’s most popular arrangements back to life at London's spectacular Cadogan Hall.
Expect to hear classics including I’ve Got You Under My Skin (Frank Sinatra), ‘S Wonderful (Ella Fitzgerald) and Mona Lisa (Nat ‘King’ Cole), alongside some of his lesser-known works and some original arrangements of jazz standards written in the style of Nelson Riddle by the orchestra’s conductor Mike Paul-Smith.
