Our line-ups
Directed by pianist and conductor Mike Paul-Smith, Down for the Count perform in 3 line-ups:
Down for the Count All-Stars
Our original band - a "mini big band" performing swing and jazz favourites from the likes of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and many more. Often found at jazz clubs including Ronnie Scott's and Pizza Express Soho.
Down for the Count Orchestra
Our big band with strings, featuring at least 28 musicians (often more!). Styled after the Capitol Studios orchestras of the 1950s, our orchestra performs the music of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Judy Garland plus our own original arrangements.
Down for the Count Big Band
A traditional 1940s-style big band, featuring 13 horn players, rhythm and vocals. Performing the music of Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey and more, our Big Band is perfect for vintage festivals and dance events.
